The “Ciao Magre” Casting Manager answers questions about getting started in a modelling career.
D:
Is casting the only way to get started as a model?
R:
Yes, a casting call gives candidates an opportunity to show themselves, to present themselves. Even professional models continue to go to casting calls for new jobs on a regular basis.
D:
How does a casting call work?
R:
We select some of the candidacies we receive and contact the girls for an initial selection at which we take their measurements, look at how they walk, how they look, how photogenic they are and how they wear the clothes.
D:
Do you need to go to modelling school to become a model?
R:
Absolutely not, it’s the worst thing you can do!
D:
Who should I go to if I want to participate in a casting call?
R:
You can fill in the form in the “Participate” section on this website to submit your material, or you can go to another specialised agency.
D:
And when I go to the casting call, should I take anything specific with me?
R:
It’s a good idea to take some photos. Candidates who have already worked in modelling can take along a photo book, which shows the judges that they are going about it in a professional way. But you don’t need to spend money on putting a book together; you can just present ordinary amateur photos.
D:
What do I need, besides being the right size, to participate in a “Ciao Magre” casting call?
R:
You need to be able to walk well, naturally, you need to be photogenic and you need to have just the right measurements. And of course you must be able to wear the clothes well. To work as a model you will need to acquire some professional skills, including: precision, punctuality, patience, concentration and willingness to put everything into collaborating with the people in charge of the product. It’s also essential to keep your word and demonstrate a serious attitude to teamwork; after all, modelling is a job, just like any other.
